Week One: Lab Training

Apr 01, 2022

Hello everyone! This week I started off at learning more about Genspace, the lab I’ll be working at for my project. I took part in a lab training where I learned how to navigate and utilize lab material for my project. After that, I started finalizing the things I need to be able to collect DNA for my project, as well as ordering the reagents and buffers for the DNA sequencing.

In order to keep track of all of my notes and protocols for my experiment, I am using the software platform “Benchling”. I think of it as a sciency-version of google docs. You can keep track of DNA sequences, protocols for experiments, and even create your own primers for PCR. My next step is creating pre-experiment surveys to send out to my participants.

Thanks for reading!

Wow! This “Genspace” place seems really cool! I am curious as to what you plan on asking in your survey! What do you think is the most important factor to account for before the experiment begins?

The most important factor to me is obtaining all of the consent forms as well as getting all of the materials ready for DNA collection!!

Clara you picked such an interesting topic! I never would’ve thought to combine DNA sequencing with breathing exercises but I’m super excited to see where this project takes you.

Wow! Awesome! Can’t wait to watch this project grow….super excited!!!! You go girl.
