Hello everyone! I’m glad that you’re continuing this journey with me!
This week I began my on-site placement at Manhattan Motorcars and completed my first assignment. Upon arrival, I noticed the building was very sleek and modern with three story, floor to ceiling windows. As I walk in, I’m greeted with the run of the mill Porsches, beautiful cars that you can imagine using on a day to day basis with your family. As I’m waiting for my advisor, Paul Dumont(GM), I began to flip through the magazines provided in the waiting area. I was blown away by the supercars that magazine advertised, as well as private jets, yachts, and mansions. After, I analyzed the cars and details in the first floor showroom, taking notes. As I explored, I realized that tucked away in a corner, was a Porsche 911 (991) Turbo S with a price of $319,000.
I ventured upstairs, passing through a floor of see through offices, before arriving at the top floor which continues to blow me away. Porsches decorated the floor throughout, parked all over. I passed the main offices to a large lounge area with the entrance engraved Porsche and Hugo Boss. I approached the fridge to grab a water and I see that they are all labeled Manhattan Motorcars with the logos of the brands they carry. Next to it was a coffee machine with a slideshow of Porsches. As I was in awe of what I was looking at, Paul came up to me and introduced himself. I knew that Manhattan Motorcars carries many supercar brands while specializing in Porsche but I hadn’t seen any so I asked Paul if there were any other brands in this dealership. He explained to me that they carry Porsche, Bentley, Lamborghini, and Bugatti as we walked past each of their showrooms. I met the salespeople of each brand as my jaw was dropped under my mask, especially while examining the Bugatti Chiron which is a 3 million dollar car but the one on display included $800,000 of additional modifications.
In addition to being introduced to everyone and everything in the dealership, I began my first assignment, making sure both websites are consistent and correct. There is a Manhattan Motorcars website that contains all the cars they carry and a MM site just for Porsches so the information on both needs to be the same. Using the stock numbers of each car I check both websites and write down the errors I can find. I look forward to sharing the results of my assignment on my next blog post!
