Week 5 (April 15-19): Turning Images into Sound

Jun 01, 2019

Hello again!

At the lab meeting this Tuesday my lab partners were practicing their speeches for The Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO), andwe gave them feedback and comments on their presentations. I was able to learn about cutting edge research in the field of ophthalmology, while also touching up on my presenting skills for the senior project presentation.

The rest of the week ran similar to last week, where I designed more pixelated patterns for Giles’ experiment. After finishing up the target images, Giles let me hear how they’d sound through the vOICe device that translates images into sound. I tested out the different settings and image orientations of the vOICe, as a precursor to the testing we would be doing next week. Below are some of the target images I put together:

Other than this, I took a trip to BASIS Independent Manhattan to give a short interview on the development of my senior project.

I can’t wait to let y’all know about the exciting testing we have in store for next week!
