Mr. Pittarelli joins BASIS Independent Brooklyn as a Computer Science Teaching Fellow. He graduated from SUNY Polytechnic Institute in Utica with a bachelor’s degree in computer science. He won the Dean’s Award at the College of Engineering, which is a distinction given to the top student in the College of Engineering. He also received the Mary M. Planow Award given to the top student in his college’s computer science department.
As a Computer Science Teaching Fellow, Mr. Pittarelli strives to encourage critical and creative thinking in the classroom, and to remind students that problem solving is a process. There's rarely ever a single way to solve a problem!
Mr. Pittarelli was drawn to BASIS Independent Brooklyn due to its kind, forward-thinking community of educators and students. Being surrounded by so many impressive people (students and teachers alike) is inspiring and exciting to him!
When not in the classroom, Mr. Pittarelli enjoys writing and recording music in his home recording studio. He also runs a small record label.
