Ms. D’Orazio joins BASIS Independent Brooklyn’s Science faculty as a Subject Expert Teacher in Physical Geography. She previously taught middle school and high school environmental science, biology, and physical sciences at private schools in New York. She is a dedicated science teacher who aims to encourage creativity and inquiry in each student in her class. She hopes to instill a love of scientific discussion and investigation in her students.
In her previous teaching position at the high school level, Ms. D’Orazio assisted in the development of Practical Engineering & Advanced Physical Science Curriculum as part of the new STEM initiative. She also specialized in differentiating classroom activities that ensured all students learn at full potential. Now Ms. D’Orazio is excited to be a part of a school with a strong foundation in science instruction through an accelerated curriculum.
Ms. D’Orazio graduated from Goucher College with a bachelor’s degree in environmental biology. She received her master’s degree in adolescent science education from Brooklyn College. While an undergraduate, Ms. D’Orazio was an NCAA competitive swimmer and captain of her swim team.
This summer Ms. D’Orazio’s independent research work brought her to Costa Rica, and she looks forward to sharing her research work with her students to enhance her Physical Geography lessons at our school.
