Ms. Fisher joins BASIS Independent Brooklyn as the Dean of Students for Grades 5-7. She received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Missouri-Columbia and later pursued her master’s degree in education and school counseling at Hunter College, where she graduated with honors. She started working in education and counseling at PS 58 in Brooklyn followed by Beacon High School. At Beacon, she focused on the college process and assisting high school students during the transitional time. Most recently, Ms. Fisher was an Academic Advisory in a specialized CUNY program.
Ms. Fisher’s goal at BASIS Independent Brooklyn is to support teachers and students throughout the school year by offering social and emotional support paired with academic support. Ms. Fisher believes in a hands on approach to learning and enjoys being immersed with the students. Ms. Fisher wants to help create a culture of respect, responsibility, and community building within the middle school program.
Ms. Fisher was drawn to the “warm, inviting BASIS Independent Brooklyn community that encourages students to push themselves beyond what they may have thought was possible.” Mrs. Fisher is extremely excited to be to a part of a community that strives for excellence and helps to create life-long learners.
Ms. Fisher enjoys spending time with family and friends, being immersed in the great outdoors, traveling to new places, and adventuring around the city.
