Mr. Perez joins BASIS Independent Brooklyn's Fine Arts faculty as a Subject Expert Teacher in Music. Hailing from Phoenix, Arizona, Mr. Perez completed his doctoral coursework and served as a Faculty Associate at the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts at Arizona State University from 2013-2015. He has prepared many future performers and teachers in the fine arts at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. Since 2003, Mr. Perez taught elementary, middle, and high school classes. He has worked with a variety of ensembles as a collaborator, conductor, arranger, coach, and instructor.
As a teacher, Mr. Perez aims to combine traditional performing arts approaches with cutting edge technology to create an exciting, experiential learning process demonstrating the power of fine arts to help us understand the world around us. Mr. Perez has two bunnies, two basset hounds, and enjoys traveling and playing basketball. He is very excited to join the BASIS Independent Brooklyn team.
