Applying to BASIS Independent Brooklyn

Thank you for your interest in learning more about the process for admission to BASIS Independent Brooklyn. Our process is selective and multi-step, ensuring we spend time getting to know our applicants, their families, and vice-versa.

We are currently accepting applications for the 2018–19 school year for grades Pre-K1 through 11. Apply now. We do have seats in select grades for the 2017–18 school year. Apply through the link and feel free to contact us with any questions.

2018–19 Application

The application for the 2018–19 school year is now available. Register for our interest list to receive updates from our admissions team or apply now.

Admissions steps and requirements vary by grade. Please read below for details and be sure to note our different admissions cycles and corresponding deadlines.

Grade 9 Applicants: the math entry level for grade 9 is Pre-Calculus. For those that are not at this math level, we offer an Algebra 2 class for credit over the summer. Please contact the admissions team to learn more. 

The Early Admissions Cycle

Applying Early Admission is a great option for families who feel that BASIS Independent Brooklyn is their top choice. Please note that applying Early Admission is not immediately binding; accepted students will have about one month to enroll or decline their seat.

Application Submission Deadline 
The deadline to submit an application for Early Admissions is on Friday, November 17, 2017 at 11:59 PM EST
Application Completion Deadline The deadline to complete an application for Early Admissions is Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at 11:59 PM EST. Please note that an application is deemed complete when all supplementary materials are received and required meetings are attended. 
Notification Date Applicants who have completed their application by the stated deadline of Wednesday, December 6 will receive notification on Wednesday, December 13, 2017.
Commitment Date If an applicant has received a notification of acceptance for the 2018–19 academic school year and has decided to reserve their seat, they must submit a signed Enrollment Agreement and a non-refundable deposit of $3,250.00 on or before Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 5:00 PM EST.

The Regular Admissions Cycle

Application Submission Deadline 
The deadline to submit an application for Regular Admissions is on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at 11:59 PM EST
Application Completion Deadline The deadline to complete an application for Regular Admissions is Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at 11:59 PM EST. Please note that an application is deemed complete when all supplementary materials are received and required meetings are attended. 
Notification Date Applicants who have completed their application by the stated deadline of Wednesday, February 7, 2018 will receive notification on Wednesday, February 14, 2018.
Commitment Date If an applicant has received a notification of acceptance for the 2018–19 academic school year and has decided to reserve their seat, they must submit a signed Enrollment Agreement and a non-refundable deposit of $3,250.00 on or before Thursday, March 8, 2018 at 5:00 PM EST.

    Attend an Informational Event (Optional)

    Though not required, we recommend you attend an informational event to learn about our program before applying.

    Optional for Early Learning Program–grade 11.

    Complete and submit an online application along with a $75 application fee.

    Applications are now available. Sign up to be notified.

    Required for Early Learning Program–grade 11.

    Provide teacher evaluation forms to your child's current teacher(s).

    We require that materials are sent directly from your child's current school to our Admissions office.

    Required for grades 111.

    Submit transcript request to your child's current school.

    We require that materials are sent directly from your child's current school to our Admissions office.

    Required for grades 111.

    Register online for your child's group play date (Preschool, Kindergarten and grade 1) or entrance exam (grades 2–11).

    Required for Early Learning Program–grade 11.

  • 6

    Register online for your Family Meeting.

    All applicants and at least one parent and/or legal guardian must attend a 30-minute meeting where we will interview your child and answer any questions you may have.

    Required for Early Learning Program–grade 11.
